In Sakhalin there is a special place, isolated natural area where the calm is only shattered by the sounds of waves and seagulls. This place is Tikhaya (Silent) Bay. Incomparable silence, amazing views delighting people’s eyes –it’s a unique natural place carefully hidden from winds and typhoons, located in Makarov district, 130 kilometers away from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

A short way off there’s Klokovskiy Waterfall. Its height is about 48 meters, it has three levels but it’s seen as almost single water stream which flares in the bottom. With that the visible part of the waterfall is only 35 meters, its high level is hidden behind branchy trees. This waterfall is located at the nameless creek, not far from Klokovskiy Cape – and that’s where its name was derived from.

Out travel starts in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the transportation part of the way to Tikhaya bay will cover 140 kilometers. On the way we will stop by the shore of Okhotsk sea, touch the history represented by the Torii Gates built in the time of Japanese presence in the island. In Tikhaya bay we are going to take a walk in the cliffed shores which heights will help you see the impressive island seascapes. To fill the pot of impressions to the full we will travel to Klokovskiy Waterfall. The way to it won’t take away your strength and emotions will not leave you indifferent.
